MENAQUINONE-7 (vitamin K2) is a form of vitamin K2. Depending on its chemical composition it could be called phylloquinone (K1) or menaquinone (K2). It is a vitamin considered the anti-haemorrhagic vitamin, as deficiency can affect clotting and increase the risk of excessive bleeding. Vitamin K was discovered as an essential nutrient for blood coagulation, which is the scientific term for blood clotting. There are two main forms of vitamin K:
1. Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone): found in plant foods like leafy greens
2. Vitamin K2 (menaquinone): found in animal foods and fermented foods

Vitamin K2 can be further divided into several different subtypes. The most important ones are MK-4 and MK-7. Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin.
