Curcuma is extracted from the root of the Curcuma longa plant. This root is also known as the yellow root, a member of the ginger family. It has long been a remedy in traditional Indian and folk medicine, and the cure of a large variety of illnesses. Another of its many uses is as a flavoring agent and a spice in most food preparations.
