BIOTIN
This product is not available at the moment
Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin that serves as an essential cofactor for carboxylase enzymes in multiple metabolic pathways. Biotin's function in protein synthesis and more specifically, in keratin production. Biotin is an important component of enzymes in the body that break down certain substances like fats, carbohydrates, and others. Many systems benefit from biotin including the skin, nerves, digestive tract, metabolism, and cells.
The word biotin comes from the ancient Greek word “biotos,” which means “life” or “sustenance”. Biotin deficiency is fairly rare. However, some people — such as pregnant women and people who drink high amounts of alcohol — may develop mild deficiencies.
Biotin, vitamin B7, is essential for life. The major biological function of biotin is to act as a covalently bound cofactor for the biological activities of five mammalian biotin-dependent carboxylases. These biotin-dependent carboxylases have crucial role in essential biological processes including fatty acid synthesis, gluconeogenesis, and amino acid metabolism.
