    Artichoke (Cynara cardunculus) is a plant native to the Mediterranean area. The leaf, stem, and root are used to make extracts, which serve medicinal purposes. Artichoke is also commonly consumed as a food.

     

    Artichoke extract contains chemicals that can reduce nausea, vomiting and gas. These chemicals have also been shown to lower cholesterol and protect the liver, by stimulating bile production, which improves fat digestion. It is a useful aid to treating digestive discomfort. 

    Rich in antioxidants, artichoke extract works to fight off free-radicals. It therefore slows down signs of aging and helps minimize the appearance of wrinkles and blemishes.

     

    Artichoke extract is commonly used for indigestion and high levels of cholesterol, and to combat high blood pressure.
