LICORICE ROOT EXTRACT DGL 3%
This product is not available at the moment
Licorice is a herb native to the Mediterranean region and south-west Asia, and is now widely cultivated throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Until about 1000 AD, licorice was collected in the wild. Its cultivation was first recorded in the thirteenth century, although its use is first documented in Assyrian clay tablets from around 2500 BC and Egyptian papyri. Licorice is one of the world’s oldest herbal remedies, and most extensively researched medicinal and food plants.
Chemical compounds in licorice are thought to decrease swelling, soothe coughing, and increase the body healing response to ulcers. DGL (deglycyrrhizinated licorice) is a form of licorice that people have processed for safer consumption. They remove a substantial amount of a substance called glycyrrhizin. This makes DGL safer for long-term use and has less interactions with medical conditions or medications than licorice extract. It may be taken to treat acid reflux and heartburn, among other conditions.
Licorice plant contains different phytocompounds, such as glycyrrhizin, 18β‐glycyrrhetinic acid, glabrin A and B, and isoflavones, whose extracts and pure compounds exhibit a broad range of biological properties, including antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antioxidant, and antidiabetic activities.
