    Licorice root is also known as gan zao, Chinese licorice and sweet root. It comes from the root of the licorice plant (Glycyrrhiza glabra). Its medicinal use dates back to ancient Egyptian, but has also been used in Greek and Chinese medicine. 

     

    Licorice root contains anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antimicrobial properties. This plant is also famous for its tobacco products and flavorings thanks to its sweet taste. Besides, it is used for mouth sores, eczema, swelling of the liver, and many other conditions. We must keep in mind that consuming this root in large quantities can have negative side effects for a long time.
